Bus Transfers To and From Pisa Airport

Pisa Airport is well connected by bus and coach. The airport's close proximity to the cities of Pisa and Florence make it a gateway for the Tuscany region.

Local city buses link the airport with Pisa city center, while long-distances coach services cover other popular destinations in Tuscany, such as the cities of Florence, Siena and Firenze, Lucca and Viareggio for example.

Buses for the city center leave every ten minutes, heading for Pisa Central Train Station, Piazza Vittorio Emanuele and four stops along Riversides, before halting at Santa Chiara Hospital, which is the nearest stop for the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. These city buses are operated by the Red LAM line (the Linea Alta Mobilita).

The city of Florence is served by bus operators Terravision and Autostradale. Pisa buses leave for the central train station in Florence at regular intervals during the day. Terravision offers discounted ticket prices for a one-way journey during the main tourist season, when the fare is just EUR 4.99 (the non-discounted price is EUR 6.00).

The journey begins at Santa Maria Novella train station in Florence, which located in the Via Alamanni. The bus stop for the Terravision bus can be found directly opposite the Bar Deanna. The journey time is approximately 70 minutes. The fare for a return journey is EUR 10.00. Passengers heading for the airport at Florence should also board this service. Florence's airport is located only 15 minutes from the central train station.

Buses from Pisa Galileo Galilei International Airport heading for Siena are operated by Train S.p.A. and Autostradale, the latter has an information desk in the arrivals zone at the airport. time table and ticket information can be obtained at www.trainspa.it and www.airportbusexpress.it.

The bus stops for both bus operators can be found directly outside the terminal's arrival zone. The Train S.p.A. service leaves Siena P. Gramsci at 7.10 am and reaches Pisa Airport at 9.00 am. The return service starts from the airport at 1.00 pm and reaches Siena P. Gramsci in the city center at 2.50 pm.

Time table example: the Autostradale services start at 9.20 am and run from Mondays to Saturdays, covering the city of Firenze en route. The bus arrives at Firenze at 10.30 am and leaves for Siena at 10.30 on the Express service (weekdays) and at 10.40 am on the ordinary service (Saturdays). The bus arrives at Siena at 11.45 am on weekdays and at 12.15 on Saturdays.

Tickets for this service can be purchased online at the above web address or in the departure hall at Pisa Airport or on Ryanair flights. A one-way ticket costs EUR 15.00 and a return journey costs EUR 28.00, but passengers should note that the ticket is only valid for same day journeys.

Passengers wishing to travel to Lucca using Pisa International Airport buses should use the VAI BUS, which is operated by Autolinee F. Ili Lazzi. This service also runs to Pietrasanta. The first stop is Pisa city center, followed by S. Guiliano, Santa Maria del Giudice and Pipafratta on some routes, then finally the bus reaches Lucca P. Verdi. The first service of the day leaves the airport at 6.30 am and tickets can be purchased from the information stand at passenger terminal. Buses from Pisa International Airport for Lucca can be boarded at the bus stops just outside the arrival zone. From Lucca the first airport bus service of the day starts at 6.00 am.
